The preparation of youth for a bright and prosperous future is foremost in the minds of the women. This preparation includes innovative education opportunities, development and maintenance of good health, exposure to supportive adults who serve as mentors and role models, and the establishment of fertile economic environments for the development of young entrepreneurial spirits. WCCInc involves youth in operational and program development.
The WCCInc believes that regardless of age, gender, race/ethnicity, income, and education, every person deserves to achieve good personal health and live in a safe, healthy community. A set of national health objectives, Healthy People 2010, was developed to encourage nation wide participation in improving the health of individuals and communities. It consists of twenty-eight focus areas, including cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, arthritis, heart disease, stroke, oral health, HIV, etc; and ten health status indicators: physical activity, overweight and obesity, tobacco use, substance use, responsible sexual behavior, mental health, injury and violence, environmental quality, immunization, and access to health care. Successful WCCInc activities addressing any of these areas/indicators will have a profound effect on increasing quality of life, the years of healthy life, and building healthy communities. By selecting from these lists, WCCInc achievements will be included in the local and national measurement of progress.
The WCCInc plans to mobilize individual and organization strengths for community-building purposes. The WCCInc identifies women and girl-related issues and facilitates collaborative efforts to reach common goals in WCC focus areas (business, youth, education, health, empowerment, intergenerational and legacy). Resources include 1) organized exposures to role models and empowering concepts, 2) organized access to information / decision makers, and 3) organized development of fiscal support.
Every culture has a rich history that should be shared, understood, respected and appreciated. The WCCInc encompass the diverse cultures, initially in the Bay Area ultimately internationally recognizing and celebrating the legacies of predecessors. The WCCInc specifically, but not exclusively, celebrate the contributions of women.
The basis for member’s successful future is adequate education. The WCCInc is active in educating youth and women in areas necessary to be successful business owners and urban community leaders.
